Vehicle Crime Prevention Advice

Dear Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator,

Did you see the recent Cheshire Alert message from your Crime Prevention Officer?

We are trying to provide people with information to help protect themselves from becoming a victim of vehicle crime.

The alert included lots of advice to help prevent vehicle theft, which I have summarised below:

  • Try and park in well lit, busier areas.
  • You can further protect keyless or higher value vehicles by blocking them in or using collapsible bollards.
  • Remove valuables from your vehicle.
  • Always lock your vehicle and close the windows and sunroof.
  • Fitting a Sold Secure steering wheel, gear lever or clutch pedal security device
    will give you added protection.
  • Manually check your vehicle has locked before walking away.
  • Keep keys in a safe place out of sight and away from doors and windows.
  • Thieves can intercept the signal from your key from a few meters away. You should keep all keys well away from the car, put keys in a signal blocking pouch (faraday pouch) and if you can, turn off wireless signals on your fob when not in use.
  • Remember to reprogramme keys if buying a second-hand car.
  •

Can you please share this information with your local Neighbourhood Watch members, family and friends.

Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to keeping your community safe.

    Kind regards,

    Crime Prevention Team

It is important to us that we know about the issues that cause you concern. We have set up a survey where you can tell us about the things you would like us to focus on in your area.
